Images missing from browser window

I have a catalogue with a folder showing 38 images but the browser only shows 17 images.

I've tried to import the other images but am told that they're already in the catalogue.

Looking in Windows Explorer the images are there but I can't load them into the browser.

I'm at a loss as to what is going on as I've tried to sync the folder but there are no images to import.

Any advice would be very welcome as I've not had this happen before.

    closed down the computer, came back to it later and the missing images have appeared.. weird.
