Latest Capture One version 13.1 unworkable
I don't know what has gone wrong here, but nothing seems to be working properly. It won't load at any speed, it takes ages to open folders on hard drive, it's totally 'sticky' to scroll or use in any way.
I am going to go back a version until somebody sort this out.
Disgraceful.

I think if you want it sorted out you'll have to say a bit more about your set-up. I've had zero problems of that nature with the update, so there must be some factor at work to explain why our experiences of it are different. What machine are you on? What version of MacOS? Are you working with a catalog or sessions? Do you have the same problem if you start a brand-new catalog or session?

Audrey,
I admit that 13.1 is not the fastest version that has been released.
But I support Ian's point of needing more info to be able to help you.0 -
I am sorry about the scant information. It is hard to describe. It is as if the programme is very busy doing something in the background. From the moment it opens. Its like a time delay or a lack of sensitivity.
I am working on a new iMac Pro. I have some external hard drives attached.I have the most up to date version of Catalina.
What is strange it that when I first downloaded the update this did not happen. Everything was more than fine. Then a couple of nights ago it went weird.
I will try a brand new session and see if it recurs.
Thank you for your help.

An iMac pro is a very capable machine, so it should be no problems.
Additional questions:
- How much RAM do you have ?
- Have you reinstalled the machine recently - or maybe it is a brand new one ? In this case, Spotlight is indeed indexing the contents, and takes a toll on the performances.
- Are other apps slow as well ?
- How big is your C1 catalogue ? Mine is 30GB and it takes indeed a "certain tim" to read, even from a SSD. Longer indeed with 13.1 than with previous versions.

I might be having different enough problems to warrant a separate thread, but I had to revert to "20" as well. 13.1 was completely unworkable and cost me the morning on a shoot. It was laggy and jumpy, but also the crop tool was completely broken. The frame would just go black while using it and I could only get it working by shooting another frame, which luckily on still life is possible. I crashed the program at least once, and had to restart several times while trying to get even the hand tool to work. I can't recall a worse update and I've been on C1P since version 2 or something.
So I reverted to 20, but, of course, had to create a new session file, because you can't use 13.1 sessions on an older version...
Meanwhile, my version of 20 has this fun bug in the crop box, but it works so I'll live with it.
