Color temperature, hue, saturation, what to use?

Hi,

I have been using Lightroom since version 2 and have been evaluating C1 with the thought to migrate.

What I at times find is difficult in C1 is to get a result that just feels right.

With photos from regular conditions (here in the Algarve the light is quite constant) my standard presets in LR are usually quite close - trim color temp and I am done, or at least 90% there.

I tried to process the same photo with C1 and do not seem to be able to get the color balance right

I find that the yellow on the mattresses is fine on both, but the shade (white at the blue decorations) is too blue on C1, the roof tiles are also too strong (could be saturation). Grass is ok.

Color temperature is set at 5440K in both cases, is there a difference in how this is interpreted? Or has it to do with saturation or something third?

This is important to us; we have www.casaflordesal.com and have done most of the photos ourselves. We have made an effort in getting the same feel to them, and keeping camera brand and RAW processor has helped. We even tried to get a similar look from the stock photos we bought

    Hi,

    First of all, I wouldn't chose the same colour temperature (5440 K), but rather measure it with the pipette on an identical white point of your images. My experience is that colour temperatures are not the same when using different softwares or cameras. Of course, the best would be to use a chart.

    The second point is that Lightroom and Capture One have different engines, and you can't expect to get exactly the same images, with exactly the same colours.

    So, if you want to get a perfectly homogenised series, I would suggest to keep working with Lightroom, or to start from scratch all your series with Capture One.

    Thank you for you response.

    I started with 5440K as that was the value from the shot, of course I tried to adjust a bit. It was the frustrating feeling of not really knowing which tool would get me closer to what I wanted.

    It would not have to be identical, close will do. Perhaps I should try some of the Nikon styles as starting points.
