Mask Operations
ImplementedHello!
I am really enjoying Capture One after being a long time Lightroom user. I find it's fantastic for the type of work I do, which is primarily portraits.
One thing I think would be helpful is the ability to apply operations on different masks layers in order to create a new mask. For example, I often create one mask that covers the whole subject/person in the photo. I then create another mask for the skin only. If there was a way to subtract the first mask from the second, that would leave me with a mask for the hair only. That would save me a bit of time from duplicating the first mask and painting out the skin to get just the hair.
Please let me know if that sounds like a good idea!
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Thank you for this request.
Currently, there is an option to copy a mask from one Layer to another. Afterwards, you can edit it accordingly on another Layer.
The option to subtract masks is not available, but I will forward this suggestion to the Product Management team.

Just an idea without knowing the exact picture, but you could copy either mask 1 or 2 , whatever is more suitable (I suppose they're on separate layers) and invert the new layer. It's probably not the exact mask you want to achieve yet but the adjustments would require less work

Hi Lily, thanks for getting the feature request logged.
While I realize you can duplicate/copy/invert masks currently, that does not give the result i am asking for.
Copying the mask and painting out areas to modify the mask is how I work currently. By adding math operations to the masks, it would save time by reducing the amount of paint work needed to generate certain masks.
@Okular, thanks for the reply. If I invert either of the masks I mentioned that would give me the entire background in the mask, which I would then need to paint out. Unfortunately in this case that is not going to help.0
