Backup files?
In my "Capture One Catalog" folder there are several files named "Capture One.cocatalogdb.backup", "Capture One.cocatalogdb.backup 1", "Capture One.cocatalogdb.backup 2" etc. I'd like to know what these files are actually for and if it's safe to delete them? All these files are over a year old. I'm running CO12 and since the files are so old I'm wondering if perhaps they were specifically used for CO11, which I had before? I'm running low on space so I'm looking for ways for free some up so I wonder if it's safe to remove these files? They don't seem to serve any purpose, at least not anymore.

You could first of all look at the date stamp on the backups to determine when they were made. They could be the backups that Capture One makes when the app is updated to a newer version that needs a new catalog structure (perhaps to keep track of adjustments that were not available in the older version). So for example, when you upgraded from Capture One 11 to Capture One 12, the app will have had to update the catalog database to the new format and will have created a backup of the old one. And the same will have happened on previous updates too.
Otherwise, do you ever use the facility to backup the catalog that is available in Capture One - they could be those backups if you do.
If you determine that most of the backups are old, I'd suggest that you could safely delete most of them. My inclination would be to retain the most recent as a safety net.

Well, like I said they're all over a year old. I've also considered the possibility that they're some files created when I updated the program. I don't however think that they're connected to my current catalog. I make backups from time to time in CO, but that just creates a separate folder in a location of my own choosing.

So you are probably safe to delete them. As I said, I would keep the most recent of them, just in case.
