Capture One 20 not responding every start
Hey guys!
I'm using a Mac with MacOS Mojave (10.14.6) and Capture One 20 (Build 13.1.0.172) with one big catalogue. The catalogue itself is stored on the mac-internal hard drive (Fusion Drive) and has a size of about 35 GB.
All the RAW-footage is stored on an external thunderbolt-harddrive and takes about 850GB or about 40.000 pictures (I'm not sure about that number).
Every time I start Capture One, it takes about 3-4 minutes until the program is finally open. Meanwhile the task-manager tells me that Capture One is not responding. After these 3-4 minutes it's working again and then it's really fast - as I expected it. Only the startup makes some trouble.
Turning Open CL off or storing the catalogue on the same external harddrive doesn't make any difference. Do you have an idea what could be the problem?
Thanks!
Regards,
Phil

My catalog is similar to yours, but about a third larger. It has about 65k images and is about 93 GB, stored as referenced images on an external hard drive. I am running on an iMac Pro. My catalog takes 45-50 sec to open. While it is opening, Task Manager reports Capture One is not responding and the spinning color wheel is displayed. In this context, what "not responding" means is that you cannot get the software to respond to a command (mouse click, etc) you give it while it is running a process that cannot be interrupted, not that it is not running. As to the time it takes to open, this will depend on your hardware, but 3-4 min seems long.

Thanks Jerry for your reply!
I seems that it's the big catalogue which causes the trouble. I created a new, complete empty catalogue and Capture One starts within seconds. When I try switching between the two catalogs, the program "crashes" again (doesn't respond) and takes some time (less then starting it at all) to load the big catalogue.
So...it's not perfect but I think I can get used to it...I have too :D
