You have multiple versions of Capture One installed on your system.   I assume when you say "then try to open it again" you are double clicking on .cosessiondb file.   Finder has associated files of that type with the older version of Capture One that is somewhere on your system.  Your choices are many:

    1) remove the older version(s) of Capture One

    2) Instead of double clicking on the .cosessiondb file just start Capture One 20.  You can use the Open or Open Recent menu items to open the session of your choice.   Depending upon your preferences Capture One will automatically re-open the last session used.

    3) tell finder you want to use Capture One 20 instead of the older version when you double click on a .cosessiondb (or a .cocatalog file if you are using catalogs).  To do that use cmd-I on the file and look about half way down the info window where it says Open With.  You can pick the app AND if you click the Change All... button all instances of that file type will use the selected app.

    4) there are probably other choices that I can't think of off hand.

I have good backups so the simplest choice for me was to remove old versions of Capture One.
