Channel Mixer (like in Photoshop) for InfraRed and UV image processing

Implemented

You sort of can achieve this effect by using the color editor to change the hue of red and blue. Unfortunately you can do only 30 degrees so you have to do this 6 times for each color. Having this as a feature would definitely be great. Right now I export to TIFF, change colors in Affinity and back to C1 which is tedious

Yes I have tried this but if you are shooting Infra Red then processing in COP it requires About 20-30 layers to achieve something that is much easier in a Channel Mixer feature.

I have tried LUTs, Styles, WB changes but all are very crude and unsophisticated.

    Hi Johnathan,

    Thank you for your post.

We have a couple of similar requests regarding the channel mixer.

I will add your comment and forward your request to the Product Management team.

Hi Lily, and I would like to add my vote to this channel swap feature. I shoot about 40% in infrared, and there are times when I would love to have channel swapping capabilities.

    Thanks

    Kevin

I notice this request is marked as 'completed', can anyone point me to where to find it in C1, or is this status of 'completed' an error?

Simon, the "Completed" status is simply an internal setting associated with the sort of software most commonly used for Help Desk type activities to indicate that the suggestion, comment, or whatever has been passed on by the people that monitor the source of the comment to the back office systems and people who are responsible for product management and development.

It simply indicates that someone had done their job, the request has been logged on internal systems and any staff seeing the thread in the future will know there is already a record within internal systems that does not need to be duplicated.

    I hope that helps.

@SFA - thanks for explaining. Not the answer I hoped for, but an answer none the less :)

Still seems odd to me that this isn't already possible. C1 feels so incredibly powerful, yet this seems like a relatively easy addition. Fingers crossed it'll come soon

I dont think that the response I have had from the engineering team or whoever triages these feature requests are satisfactory.

I am told on one occasion that Chanel Mixer requires the use of a pixel editor! This is incorrect and shows a fundamental misunderstanding.

Channel mixer is the ability to manipulate the RGB values in a controlled manner. It is really an extension of the (Advanced) Colour Editor (ACE).

The best place for a channel mixer would be on the same tab as ACE.

The ACE tool is a simple tool that allows easy colour change and colour matching, the channel mixer provides an extension of this tool and allows values from RBG channels to be 'swapped'.

In IR and UV photography this is a fundamental need in post processing.  I have requested before a call back from an agent at a mutually acceptable time or a direct conversation with engineering team member but I have had no response.

Engineering might want to look at these videos.

I feel that the features enhancement process is an unnecessarily obscured, secretive and non-customer focussed process. There is no need to make the process open to all in such a way that it can be abused by competitors but it does need to be customer focused not just deliver sexy new coding techniques that keep the engineering team happy!

    @Simon Tregidgo.

I have been informed in the past that it is impossible to add Channel Mixer to COP.  Since I understand the RAW processing pipeline and how it needs to be implemented for image processing then somebody has either misunderstood the way Channel Mixer works or is being obtuse!

I am wondering since there has been much comment about this in some of the forums (fora) here and in other parts of the community whether this Feature Enhancement request has been added to the list for consideration and progression.

If we are to be enabled to do more processing in COP than in other softwares then is highly preferable.

Any further comment from CaptureOne staff would be really good.

    Is this coming?

    Is it not possible?

    Any information would be useful!
