Crop tool strange behaviour

Look at your process recipes in the Output tab.  You've selected a recipe that has that size, or an alternate representation of that size, i.e. long edge set to 2048. The Capture One crop tool s showing what the resulting size will be when the image is processed.

You want to select a recipe that has the scale set to Fixed at 100% to see the actual size.   The Crop tool will then let you display that size in pixels, inches, mm, or cm.  If you select inches, mm, or cm the size displayed also depends upon the process recipe -- it will use the Resolution value to calculate the displayed size.

What you see on screen is influenced by the values set in the Process Recipe that is currently selected - especially if you are also making use of the Proofing facility.

    Hi Oliver,

You change the dimensions using the 'Basic tab' of the 'Process Recipe' palette under the 'Output' menu (the cog icon in the tools palette).

Here you can change the dimensions to either px, in, mm or cm. In the same palette, you can also set the scale, choosing between a variety of different options, Fixed, Width, Height, Dimensions, W x H, Long Edge, Short Edge.

Once you have the crop settings you want you can then click the dropdown arrow on the crop tool and choose 'Add aspect ratio' and give the crop a name which once saved you can use on any of your images, so you can effectively build up a 'crop library'.

    I hope that helps.

Thanks for the explanations. That actually helped. However in my opinion this behaviour is superstrange. There is absolutely no obvious connection between the ‚Process Recipe‘ and the crop tool. Coming from Lightroom I would never have guessed this.
