Takes around 15 seconds on my 2x3.2 quad core intel with 10gb ram, not sure if this is how it should be but I would have thought it could be quicker?

It might be related to the size of the collection you view when you open CO. If you start up in a large collection, CO will take longer to load. Also, if you have many albums or favorites, loading may take longer.

    that makes sense...

Sometimes it doesn't load at all (or within acceptable timeframe), maybe this is when I've had a remote hard drive in the folder list which is then off-line during start up. I'll check this and see.

I sort of wish it didn't arbitrarily ask me to either open a new, existing or default catalogue, I think this slows it down. If I could get it to open in a new window and let ME decide where to navigate to it might work better for me.

Thanks for the comforting responses though. I appreciate it.

This happens to me too, I think it may take especially long when I process a batch of files and then move the files. Later when I reopen C1 it takes forever to open. It used to actually get frozen or take a REALLY long time when I did this, now it just takes a little longer to open. But regardless it always takes quite a while to open, somewhat annoying.

Ok I'm going to relax about it!

I tried this. Came out of the last catalogue I was working in and left the entire workspace empty when I shut down the program. When I reopened it, it did so very quickly.
