Question for Phase One Team
Hi everybody
I completely switched from LR to C1 with no remorse 😉 and I find it a very great software. I mainly use with Fuji RAF files and results are simply beautiful.
Of course I know there are some limitations using RAF files, from release notes:
This functionality is not supported for Fujifilm RAW files:
processing/exporting to DNG, auto mask, healing with Repair Layers, focus mask and LCC.
Obviously I know these are not bugs (they are clearly written on release notes) but anyway I'd like to know if there are some possibilities that we will see these functionalities in the future also working with RAF files
Thanks a lot!

These questions have come up before.
As I understand it the challenge is that the existing code for the functions is based on sensors with a Bayer array of light capture sensors and the Fuji sensors do not have a Bayer array so the code will not work and is not easily adaptable.
That in turn means that quite a lot of research and development needs to be undertaken.
In other words there are some technical challenges and potentially some high costs (both money and resources) to try to create a solution.
Assuming the technical challenges can be overcome it would certainly make sense to add to the "interested" count by creating a Support Case for your request. The more people who are seen to be interested the better the case for undertaking the development - provided Fuji look like they will support the sensor technology in its current form for a few years.
HTH.

Just want to register my interest in this topic, as an LR to CO convert with an XT-1.
Absolutely love this far superior RAW processing software, and will be purchasing it once my trial is up.
I am gutted that auto mask don't work though. It's a wonderful feature to save a lot of time on those intricate local adjustments that come up (...regularly enough to warrant the investment by PO into finding a solution, IMO).
Hope that the Phase One wonderbods do eventually get it working. You would make a lot of Fuji customers very happy, I think!
Thanks in advance 😊

I understand the user's desire to have all the features. Fact is that with Phase One's crowded list of priorities it can be hard to justify a certain effort. Logging your desire as a feature request is the best course of action for a user.
Another angle to look at it is that the auto mask feature might look as a great omission if you do not have it, I hardly ever use it, if not at all. Reason is twofold. First, the edges of the auto mask are not smooth and I am sure Phase One is aware of that. Second, more importantly, I like it most for highlight recovery. Since CO8 however, with the HDR tool on a layer, precise masking is not mandatory anymore. It removed my priority for a better auto mask to the bottom of my priorities.
Good luck experimenting CO8. It is a great tool and maybe some of my blogs (links in signature) will give you a head start.0 -

Thanks Paul.
I kind of see your 2 points...but I still want it! 😊
I'm sure over the course of time I'll learn to live without it. Well, I have no choice really, but you know, I'll perhaps stop craving it over time.
And maybe by then the CO genii will have implemented the fix! 😊
I'll assume by 'logging a request', you mean logging a case with the PO support team, in which case, I think I already did at the beginning of my trial. Maybe if I add another one it will bump up the request numbers 😉
I'll be sure to check out your blog. All help/tips welcome.
Thanks much.
