C1Pro quits while editing canon files
Hi, We have been having issues with C1 Pro randomly quiting on us while tagging canon images. Generally there are between 25 and 75 images in each folder that we are editing through. Has anyone else experienced this? we have had it happen frequently on several computers, both Dual 2.7 power pc G5 towers as well as Quad 3.0 Intel Mac Pros. I suspect it is a discrepancy between 3.7.6 and OS 10.4.8.
Camera: Canon 1Ds Mark II, Tethered.

JonG717,
certainly are no issues with OS 10.4.8 and 3.7.6
First thought are permissions and where images are located.
Repair of permissions may resolve.
Let us know how this goes.

I have tried repairing permissions, and running disk warrior several times, but continue to get the same result. Iike I said, I have seen the same problem on at least 4 different machines.

Jon,
Tagging image files should not and typically does not crash a system.
Please submit a Support Case in order to resolve this issue.
Provide very specific details on your system specs, workflow, image file locations etc.
Also attach a Crash Log to the case for analysis.

Hi Jon, did you ever figure out the issue?
I'm having C1 crash frequently while trying to edit 5D files.
I think there maybe a problem when you don't import the files into C1 but instead view the folder the images are contained in. C1 is taking way too long to build thumbnails that i then doesn't retain the info for, and then crashes, and has to rebuild thumbs it again doesn't retain...

I think you are correct that not importing the files into the capture folder can cause C1 to quit. I have noticed this when working on several hundred 5D files from shoots. 0 -
I edited hundreds of shots daily from Canons, 1dsmkII and 1dmkII, and capture one crashed over and over again. After updating several times, after reloading several times, I decided to live with the crashing and just edit slower to avoid the problem. Also, get rid of folders off your desk top as fast as possible, Capture One doesn't like a lot of jobs on the computer, even though they aren't active. My experence, I use Macs. 0 -
The Mac Platform with Capture One is quite stable and nobody should have to live with crashes.
If you experience repeated crashes, there is a reason and the Crash Log often contains the answer.
This situation is when submitting a Support Case with logs can go a long ways in understanding a system's problems.
Working to/from Session folder with default folders of Captures - Processed - and Trash on the Local HD default location is the most stable. Storing RAW Sessions on the Desktop is not the best location.
RAW image files best kept at default of: Local HD / ~User / Pictures / Captures / Your Session Folders
Add other HDs, Users, server locations, custom folders etc. adds more variable for problems to occur.
This is not to say it can 't be done successfully, it just has to be set-up properly.
Sincerely,
K C0
