C1 Pro 3.7.1 and preview cache
I'm very unhappy with the ammounts of space preview cache takes when I browsing folders with my photos. So I selected to empty this cache everytime I close C1 Pro. But I noticed one bad thing, when I close C1 Pro nothing gets deleted from my Preview cache folder:( why is that? How can I correct this? Thanks.

It will not delete corrently active collection, it will only delete files that is in collections that is currently not viewed. 0 -
So explain then what is wrong. In C1 I clicked on the one folder which contains only JPG files. Many files were created in preview cache folder. Nice. Then I clicked on the other folder which contains only raw folders. Additional files were created in the preview cache folder. Nice. Then I closed C1 Pro. I think that after this operation files correcponding to jpg images in the first folder must be deleted? But they stay in preview cache folder:( But if I repeat all the steps but in the reverse direction - at first open folder with raws and then folder with jpgs and then close C1 Pro - files correcponding to raw files are deleted from the preview cache folder. So where is my mistake or your mistake?:) I noticed that files get deleted only which correspond to raw files and not to jpg when not viewing collection. Am I right? 0 -
No they will not be deleted, or else they will be recreated next time you view the folder which will not be a fast work flow.
Check File -> Preferences->Preview cache where you can set how it should handle deleting of previews.0 -
In preferences I set to delete cache after I close C1 Pro. I don't have so much space for this cache. So imagine my situation - I opened folder which contains a lot of jpg images. Big cache was created. After that I opened the next folder with other images. As I can understand I left first folder. So in my understanding all files that correcponds to images in the first folder must be deleted from the cache when I close C1 Pro? Right or not?:) Because when I close C1 Pro these files stay in cache. But I want them to dissapear from cache to preserve my HDD space. Is that possible? 0 -
This is correct as long as the images does not correspond to a active collection in Capture One. 0 -
Lets begin once again:) I think that you didn't understand me:(
Here is an excerpt from your knowledge base:

Summary Capture One Windows: Weird looking files in the Preview cache directory
Problem I have some files with names like this: UID_CRW_0789firstimage.jpg_20050526004134
They are in my preview cache folder, along with the .C1W and .C1P files. They all contain names of jpgs that I have processed, but for certain there is not one of these for each jpg I have processed. Some have modified dates when I know for sure that I never opened or looked at the raw or jpg file that shares that name.
What are these?
Solution Capture One allows the Browsing of JPEG images, but does not allow any adjustments or editing. When the Preferences are set to do so, and a folder of JPEG images is selected, Capture One creates a Preview file of the JPEG for display. These Capture One exclusive files are stored along with the Work and Preview files in the default location.
They can be removed from the Previews folder without issue.

I'm talking about these files. I noticed that they never get deleted at least on my machine:( Simple check:
1. in C1 pro I set to delete preview cache right after I close C1 Pro.
2. I opened C1 Pro and clicked on the folder which contains a lot of JPG files. Big preview cache were created.
3. Most important step - after that I opened empty folder. As I can understand I'm not in a collection with these all JPG files.
4. After step three I closed C1 Pro.
Final - all cache files stay in place and do not get deleted. Why is that? How can I force them to be deleted when I close C1 Pro. Give me a simple steps.
Now other operation but now with raw files. I deleted all files created earlier in preview cache folder manualy before doing these steps. So lets begin:
1. in C1 pro I set to delete preview cache right after I close C1 Pro.
2. I opened C1 Pro and clicked on the folder which contains a lot of RAW files. Big preview cache were created.
3. Most important step - after that I opened empty folder. As I can understand I'm not in a collection with these all RAW files.
4. After step three I closed C1 Pro.
Now all files from the preview cache get deleted. So it seems that with RAW files I have no problems and with JPG files I have problems.
I tried to delete preview cache directly from C1 Pro. Same behaviour.
I can't explain more clearlier:( And I hope that you'll understand me this time.0 -
I've found someones post about this problem on your forum but with no reply:

Thanks Keith. I will get rid of them.
Is it a bug that they are not automatically cleaned out with the same rules that clean out the C1P files, and that they are not cleaned by the \"Clean Preview Cache Now\" button?

He was talking about the same weird files which are created after we browse folder with JPG files. And it seems that they NEVER GET DELETED. He tried to do that, I tried to do that in two ways - no success. So next step is yours...😊0
