Rename on import with file SUFFIX instead of name
I'd like to have an import option to use the file SUFFIX (i.e. "1234" preceding ".CR2") instead of the entire file name. Any info to accomplish this appreciated. I'm able to add "custom text_date_" but really want just the suffix appended to that (fyi: this is considered best-practice for file rename/import by many in the DAMgmt world, not just me). Thanks

In the naming section of the import dialog click the '...' menu next to 'Format'. Remove the 'image name' token put the '1 digit counter' token in its place. Change the counter to 2, 3, 4, etc digits if you prefer. In the '...' menu of the naming section you can reset the counter to 0 or start it at any number you like.
If you want CO to remove the dsc_ part of the name and leave only the number, shooting tethered you can use the 'camera counter'. Not sure if this is possible on the import dialog or batch rename, you can look through the tokens and see what best fits.0 -
Rick, if you want to make your suggestion as an Enhancement request the best option is to create a Support Case to make the official request for consideration.
Meantime and assuming your camera body does not help you with a user settable prefix for the number sequence, another option would be to import as is and then rename in a batch within C1 to eliminate the unwanted part of the name.
That might not be the elegant solution you are proposing but does have the benefit of being available and fast.
HTH.

Thanks, I'll investigate the batch rename post-import AND the camera setting (I hadn't considered that but it may work and would save a batch step).
