I to would like some insight into this as I am a long time LR user and am in the process of switching/combining the workflows.

And suddenly I suffer the CRASH-O-RAMA! ☹️ ☹️ Everything has been running smooth since last week.

No updates done on my mac. It crashes during import to sessions. It crashes while creating sessions.
It even made my machine freeze completly and the fading "turn off the machine" crash message came.

What is going on? How can this happen out of the blue?!

Sounds like you need to start a support case. Don't delete any preference files or anything, they might prove useful to P1.

Instead, I would first store the pref files in a folder on desktop (for eventual further need as specified) then delete them from their original place, restart the Mac and launch C1 with finger crossed.

Thanx! Will try to backup the PREFs and delete them when I get home this afternoon.

I haven't been using C1P7 that much until 7.0.2 was released and I installed it.
    But I have been upgrading my system v7.0.0 --> 7.0.1 --> 7.0.2

Is it recommended to uninstall C1 and do a clean install of 7.0.2 because of the previews problems with 7.0.0 and .0.1?

Another question - do you store the raw files inside the session folder or do you keep the session and the raws seperated on different disks? For example sessions on a SSD and raw files on HDD

I don't know if it is recommended to do a clean install, but in your case, I would…
I don't use any DAM (damned!) system, always the main session and work my raw files on the HD (which is a RAID 0, but my files are backed-up on 2 different external HD before)
I keep my booting SSD for system and softwares only.

Ahh. So you only got one session and then just browse the filesystem?
In other words you don't use things like the SELECTS folder etc.

    that's right
I do my own folders architecture (client/date/subject)
    Easy to browse !

Sounds kinda smart in a way. Keeps things simple.

Same here. One session and I simply browse in my own folder structured collections (date/subject) with the Library tool. All these folders with all the raw files are on a separate internal disk with backups on an external disk. Boot disk just has the software.

    Cheers, Bob.

And you guys running one session only - no hickups or crashes?

    I run a similar workflow...

Create a session for each project, named by client then date, on the desktop.

I only use ranking for the selects (I don't bother with the selects folder). Then view by rank to move them to the top to further adjust and output.

Work the files in photoshop if needed, then run a photoshop action on the output folder to create various sizes as needed for the project.

Change the name of the output folder to something like "Studio Name Client Date Finals". Then upload or burn a disc.

If needed I create a new output folder in the sessions folder for future output.

Backup project onto external drive(s) and delete the file from the desktop.

    Thanx, Dave!

Regarding the final export of the files - I notice that alot of my JPGs end up with an oversharpen look if I export them from the TIF edited in PS - using Capture One. Even if I disable sharpen in the C1 export process. Very strange!

I guess resize, watermark and export using actions in PS is the way to go.

Touch wood 😄 but so far 7.0.2 is running without a single crash. There are some bugs, passed on to Phase One, but those have nothing to do with stability.

    Cheers, Bob

    Sounds very good, Bob.

I guess I got some "dirt" in my system after the upgrades and previous crashes.
Just uninstalled C1 using the guidelines from PhaseOne and installing 7.0.2 fresh and clean.

*knocking my crossed fingers on wood* 😄

My current workflow is very similar to yours.
    - I used TIFF for output so both Photoshop and CO7 will recognize the files. I used to have a link to a post from a Photoshop developer saying that the .PSD file has been extended by other Adobe projects and at this point a TIFF file is just as good, if not better, than the propriety format.
    - I still use Photoshop actions in batch mode to sharpen images for the web and/or apply water marks. I also use Photoshop for printing.

I very much want to build a more integrated workflow and better DAM around the new catalog capabilities, but I haven't figured out a workflow that takes me all the way out to photoshop and back again without a lot of extra steps to import the TIFF files after processing in Photoshop.
