Are there xmp conflicts between Light Room and Capture One?
As a migrating Aperture user I have been playing with both Capture One and Light Room. While I favor the RAW engine of Capture One, and find the project and Album management of both less powerful than Aperture, I recognize the broad acceptance of Light Room means more user to user support.
That means for the time being I am doing some double work, and using both Capture One and Light Room.
If I set Capture One to write xmp side cars will that produce a hodge podge of confusion as I go back and forth?
In the end I would prefer to stabilize on Capture One, but I am still evaluating my options.

Peter: FWIW, as an Aperture refugee like yourself, I have found the support provided on this forum, together with the webinars and C1 Blog, to be outstanding. Since C1 personnel are reading and responding, it goes beyond "user to user". Moreover, responses from people like Paul Steunebrink, who are POCP's, and others like Virtual Rain have been very helpful.
As to your question about XMP, I can tell you that Photo Mechanic and C1 can synch together through the XMPs, but I haven't tried to do it through LR.

First, let us notice that XMP is a means of transportation of metadata only, between Capture One and Lightroom. Other adjustments are not transported since CO8 does only read/write metadata via XMP files.
If you have both programs use XMP sidecar files and you set the settings in CO8 properly (Preferences, Image tab, Metadata section) to your needs, you should be all set.
If necessary, you can do a search on the forum for 'lightroom xmp' for more information on the topic.0 -
Thanks Paul.
That seems to exactly answer my question. As long as edits aren't in the xmp, then the rest of the synching should be fine. I will see how it goes.
I appreciate your insights.0
