status of C1 with eGPU?
So I have a 2018 Macbook Pro and a Helios eGPU with a Radeon RX 580 card in it. All are supported by Apple. (I bought this kit because it saved me about $170 vs the Blackmagic). https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/HELFXRX580/
I've done some testing and noticed some issues.
C1 is on an external display which is connected to the eGPU, using Macbook's built-in keyboard: What I've noticed is that I can hit a key (e.g CMD-right-arrow) to go to the next image, and there's a big delay. If I'm looking at the IPTC data and down arrow in the browser, the IPTC data does not update right away, I'm still looking at the data from the prior image for several seconds. So my guess is that the app is struggling with using the two GPUs (internal and external).
I hear Mojave has an option to specify, by app, which GPU that app uses. Since Mojave is not supported by C1 yet, I haven't upgraded yet to try this (if it fact made it to the initial Mojave release).
My question is really this: has anyone used C1 successfully with an eGPU? And if so, what am I missing?

- GOOD: C1 Process Recipe/batch performance is steller when the eGPU is connected and is about 3x as fast as without.
GOOD: it appears that the computer uses both the internal GPU and the external one.
BAD: My problem is with normal use of C1 w/lags and delays.

UPDATE: I did some more testing, turned on/off OpenCL, and a reboot or two and it's working as I would hope now. I'll need to see if I can figure this out what the issue was.
I can say that process recipe batch performance, when the Radeon RX 580 is running in the eGPU, is almost 4x as fast as without it. (76 images/min output with eGPU, 22 images/minute without)
BTW, This is a 13" Macbook Pro with the internal Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655.0
