C1 11.1 Keyboard Shortcuts Problem

IMO, this is a bug in 11.1. I found and reported it for 3 betas prior to release and am disappointed that the problem is still there. However, I wonder if when you look more closely, you'll find like I did that the shortcut actually did work, but the cursor doesn't change like it's supposed to until I either click on or hover over the tool in the toolbar. Really weird, and totally reproducible.

Another one is that when using a dual monitor setup and switching to another application (click on the Desktop, use the Application Switcher, etc.), C1 doesn't properly hide itself on the secondary monitor like it has in previous versions. Again, present in the betas and not attended to in the final release.

Suggestion: Do as I did and report it as a bug. I'm waiting to hear from P1 support on this.

That said, I've found that the cursor bug doesn't happen on all of my licensed computers. It's consistent on my dual monitor Mac Pro setup, but the cursor works just fine on my MBP—both 2012 systems running Sierra.

I almost reverted to the earlier release version, but the new one fixes some more important issues I have, so now that I understand what's happening, I live with it and hope that P1 issues a fix. The other issue, with C1 not properly vanishing on dual monitor setup is much more disruptive for me, as I rely on being able to get to the Desktop while using C1, and right now the only way to do it is to use Mission Control to expose it, which isn't what I need to do.

Frankly, based on what I've seen with v11, I'm going to test the heck out of v12 before buying it; before v10, I didn't hesitate at all.

I have reported this as a bug. I am using a dual monitor setup - one of the main reasons for using a pro app like Capture One.

I have also noticed since v11 that I get large Capture One related icons scattered across my external monitor when hiding Capture One - They look like folders, just not OS X style folders. I usually just switch to another desktop as Dual monitor setup on Capture One is fragile, so hide and restor can break it.

Tried C11.1 again, but in my case its not just the cursor not changing, the function itself is missing. Eg, when showing H, pressing C does not give crop function to the hand icon - it stays hand (double click to zoom, pan, etc.

I'll stay with 11.01 for a while until something changes.

    Received response from C1 Support.

I was asked to perform a clean install as this problem has not been seen at their end.

Followed instructiosn (had already tried before), no difference - even setup a test user and tried on my MacBook Air - keyboard shortcuts do not work - exactly the same.

    Quite frustrating.

Same here. I only see the problem on my dual monitor Mac Pro setup, though. The issue doesn't happen on my 2012 MacBook Pro. Both machines are running Sierra.

I've seen and reported the problem consistently through 3 11.1 betas and sent the logs and screenshots showing the problem. At least the three of us know it's real.

Keep pushing on the support request. If enough of us do it, maybe P1 will keep trying and find that it's really a problem.

I will submit the same report if I can replicate the issue. http://www.photogrant.com/bug-report

I heard back from Support. They said that the problem I mentioned (C1 not hiding elements on the secondary monitor when switching out of C1) is a confirmed bug.

I hope they confirm the keyboard shortcut problem as well, as that one's very consistent on my dual monitor setup, and consistently doesn't happen on my two MBPs, so it looks to be related to hardware configuration.

C1 Support got back to me, they have never heard of the Keyboard Shortcut problem.

Where the standard keys stop working, and only mouse clicks on icons have any effect.

Well its very real at my end, so this is very frustrating.

Thanks for posting this. I'd reported it at least twice during the beta cycle, and those reports go right to the developers and not Support.

I'll file a support issue later today.

And yes, the problem's very real and totally reproducible on one of my Macs (Mac Pro), but doesn't exist on the other two (MacBook Pros).

Gosh: I even sent in screenshots showing the cursor mismatched to the selected tool!

Received a request from C1 support - to try creating a custom Keyboard Shortcut set.

So I added two custom keys to the default key list using the Edit Keyboard Shortcuts command.

Before I did this, no keyboard shortcuts were working - checked H,R,C,B - nothing.

Ater adding two custom keys - all Keyboard Shortcuts started working again immediately.

Have just used C1 11.1 to cull 800 to 200 and then adjust 200 images - keys kept working throughout. Closed C1 and re-opened, all OK. Created New Session - all OK.

Not sure what the problem was - and I am still using a dual-screen setup - but 11.1 is working for me.

My Keyboard Shortcuts stopped working too. Very frustrating. I'm using C1 together with Tangent Wave 2. And it seems to be some interaction between the two that disrupts the keyboard shortcuts. Editing shortcuts didn't help. Pan and crop are two that stick out to me as not working. The ability to change browser mode from single view to hide viewer mode works. But I'm constantly changing between crop and pan, and need to resort to the mouse every time. This makes fine adjustments to crop very tedious. a

I submitted a bug report back in March about this, and after going back and forth with PhaseOne Support, I eventually got them to say, "I am able to reproduce the issue of cursor tool keyboard shortcuts intermittently not working…". But they closed the ticket after that and I've not heard anything since. It remains a problem for me.

IIRC, it's only a problem in a dual display configuration.

It is not only a problem on a dual monitor configuration - it happens to me from time to time too, and I don't use dual monitors.

I've had this problem going back to C1 8, intermittently. Its usually resolved by Command-Tabbing out of the app and then back. Phase One has never been able to replicate it, and I've had face-to-face time with one of their developers. I sort of gave up, and just tab out and back in when it crops up.
