Dialog windows disappearing under popup menu
Hello all!
I'm on Windows 7 64bit with a NVidia Quadro K2100M, from time to time when opening a dialog window (for example: preferences or import) when i click on a combo box to show the choices menu the underlying dialog disappears keeping only the popup menu visible. This is really annoying as it makes the dialog really hard to use. The dialog is recoverable from the windows application bar at the bottom of the screen.
Tried activating/deactivating hardware acceleration but this doesn't really make any difference.
How can i fix this issue?
Thanks!
Umberto
P.S. How can i fix my display name? I fixed it in phaseone account but the forum keeps showing that silly numeric code

I think you may find the pop up handling is something managed by Windows preferences (if I have correctly understood your case description).
The name thing on the posts should just be a matter of editing the Account information but may take a while to work through the server. Another option is that somehow you have 2 accounts?
If it persists create a Support Case and get the Phase team to take a look at it.

Well it ended up being an issue with openCL, it seems.
If I completely deactivate both options, the GUI works as expected.
If I activate one of the two options, or both, sometimes the main window gets painted over the preference dialog, making it invisible.
The dialog is there, but needs to be repainted.
Moreover I noticed that openCL turned on breaks the export of the photo. Looks like not all layers are applied.
Preview works correctly.
By deactivating openCL I fixed almost every problem.
It's a little bit slower but not so much to be annoying.
My only complaint so far is the horrible catalog performance.
With a 37000 photos catalog, sometimes finding something takes a lot of time, up to 15 minutes of uninterrupted disk access. In the meantime the selected photo is workable but for searching it doesn't give me much confidence...
Hope that catalog issue can be improved, I'm very fond on C1

I run a Quadro K1000M on WIn 7 and don't have the problems that you have described.
However I have found in the past that not all new drivers are improvements and, updating drivers from the nVidia web site, can lead to apparently very different drivers depending on which options one takes when trying to find the latest one that is recommended.
In addition it may be that the C1 build for the driver kernels - initialised at first use and checked again (but not rebuilt) when the application is opened - may be incorrect for some reason.
This article describes how to go about regenerating the kernel build using the existing driver.

If doing that makes no difference it may be worth checking for other drivers - newer or older - to see if they work for you.
Also the nVidia management tools should be able to show you which software is using the GPU - that could be useful in case there is some sort of conflict in play.

Thanks so much!
I rebuilt the kernel then it looks more stable. Maybe C1 didn't handle well the hybrid architecture Intel/NVidia and missed some hit, who knows.
Anyway, while the GUI now works ok with OpenCL turned on, Export still fails (wring colors) and i must keep it deactivated.
Not a big trouble as export still is quite fast (more than LR i guess) even without OpenCL turned on.
So far, i'm fine on this side.
Cheers! Umberto0
