Nik HDR issues

I assume you are using NIK as (or with) an external editor in the same manner I use Topaz products. I have not seen this issue with any external editor I have used with CO - Elements, PhotoLine, Affinity Photo Beta or Topaz's photoFXLab.

Have you seen this issue with anything other than NIK products? If not, perhaps there is some NIK Preference setting you might need to set?

"Open With" just hands the original file to the external app. You need to use "Edit With" to create a file in the same folder and have an external app work on it.

True enough, but both Open With and Edit With apparently pass the original path to the external editor and so it should be saving it back to the same location. I know that if I use Open With or Edit With, my external editor knows where the file came from and saves it back to the original folder automatically.

It probably depends on the editor too and whether its modifying the original referenced file or creating a new file from it.

I am suggesting that it depends upon the external editor alone.

I use both Edit With and Open With using several different external editors and they all return the image to the correct folder so CO must be sending the proper path information to the apps. If one of them saves it to a different location it must the because the external editor (in this case, NIK) has changed the path.
