Download and delete key won't work

I have downloaded the latest C1 and I cannot delete a pic with the delete key or the X shortcut, the only way I can delete a pic is to control command delete, it also will not let me select multiple pics to delete. Any clues

    Did you have a set of custom keyboard shortcuts, and has installing the latest update reverted it to the defaults?

    I generally use Command-D, which works everywhere,

    One thing I've found is that some keyboard shortcuts are dependent on whether you're clicking within the Browser or Film Strip.The Next/Previous arrow keys are examples.

    Yea its funny this was in a new session that I created but when I opened another catalogue it worked fine so Im going to import the images to my main catalogue and delete the non working session
