On a related note, where does one file feature requests?

Just create a support ticket. Clearly describe it as feature request and also write why you'd think that it might be a good addition and change.

Never played with it but I would consider

'Groups' to be 'Clients' and 'Projects' to be 'Shoots'. Or at least that's how I'd hope it would be useful.

I have Nike as a client for example and I work with them throughout the year on 15-20 'projects/shoots'.

Would love to know if anyone has implemented a catalog into their workflow. It's still not where it needs to be for me, yet.

I am using one (1) catalog with approx. 30'000 images organized in groups, projects and albums as follows:

    Groups:
    -CLIENTS
    -EVENTS
    -PLACES
    -LANDSCAPES
    -FAMILY
    -VACATIONS
    -UNDERWATER
    -FASHION
    -PORTRAITS
    -PRODUCTS
    -VARIOUS
    -etc.

within each group I have projects, such as

    PLACES
    1205 India's Taj Mahal
    1505 Hong Kong City Tour
    etc.

underneath each projects I have one or several albums, such as

    PLACES
    1205 India's Taj Mahal
    Raw
    TIFF
    JPEG final

the raw files are in the album RAW etc.

All images are catalogued with extended metadata and keywords. If I want to get all my 3'000 (?) images with the content of sharks I select "All images" from the library tab and enter "underwater, shark" in the keyword search section and voilà within seconds the result is there. I am using a referenced catalog. The files are on several drives (SSD on MBP, G-Raid, NAS).

Maybe this gives you an idea. Works for me pretty much (more or less). I remember there is also a video from C1 6 or 7 which explains more in detail about catalogs with groups and projects.

I understand your thought of it not being there yet, and I really hope P1 continue to build its features and speed/stability. What are you using now, if anything to manage your images.?

Not everyone needs a catalog, and thats where session rule but for the individual consumer the cataloging market is a two horse race. Lightroom has speed and features over C1 but it too is lacking in some basics but why would one use that as an asset manager if the processing engine of choice is C1Pro?
Media Pro seems to have gone into hiding. At least it spoke to C1Pro.

Thankyou @Juerg1 for a detailed layout of a logical structure for your catalog. Also good to hear you are apparently experiencing no speed issues
