Save a style does not work as expected
For information for others trying to save a style (windows version of Capture 1 v11.1.1). I spent some time trying to work out why styles were not saving the setting I wanted. I came up with the very simple answer, that may help others.
If you make a layer and apply some settings to the layer, i.e. saturation, clarity etc, you cannot save those settings to a style. Even with the layer selected, the save as a style option only saves the settings from the base (background) layer!
To save the settings you want, set them on the background layer, save the style and then reset the background layer to what you originally wanted. You can them use the saved style on a layer as normal.
I am not sure if the Apple version works the same way.
Hopefully this will save some people some wasted time when starting to use styles.

Thanks Tonyh-s! I was struggling with this as well. Thought it was something I was doing wrong.

There is a specific function to save a layer style in the layer tool menu.
It is limited, of course, to those tools that are available in layers and the default seems to be to present the clip board so that you can select the components of the layer you wan to treat as part of a style.
Then save the style with whatever name you prefer and you can apply it - remembering to make the layer you wish to apply it to a Filled layer.
You can also apply it to a background level of course.
HTH.

Thanks Grant, that does exactly what I wanted.
