Some "simple" features I’d like to see in C1
If you have any other "simple" feature request like these, put them hereunder and we'll drop a feature request as a support case…
C1 is a fantastic raw converter, it now allows a lot more than converting raw files… hence we need more to be included and maybe one day, bye bye PS/CS!
- ability to select images in Browser like in Excel sheets, by row or column (when having hundreds of multi exposure shots, this would fasten the settings per exposure)
- for export, to be able to set the size by pixels and or millimeters/inches in addition to percentage
- Possibility to store successive texts in the watermarking tab
- better noise reduction

Excellent idea. Here goes the old +1 dance … [quote="Nicolas" wrote:

+1 on both.
My „simple“ suggestion:
- Graduate filters / burn/dodge edges functionality (using multiple brush layers to achieve similar results is a pain for me.)
My other suggestions aren’t simple I guess; hence I won’t spam the thread with them.
Cheers,

That is possible in the pro version.
For selecting, select the first image and shift-click on the last that you want to select, all images between are selected.0 -

Thank you Markus
I have the pro version (since V3 !)
Your explanation works -indeed- for a line, but not for a column, my request is to select, for example all images of a column in one click, this is only possible by selecting one after the other with command/click.
In Excel sheet, you may point your mouse over the top of a column or a line and select all that column or line in one click
Like this, only the images of the center column are selected:

Sorry for not having been clear in my OP!0 -
Nicholas, I think Markus meant to say the your export feature wish is already available in the current version. I second that, by the way. 0 -

Hi Paul
Sorry again but I disagree…

This can't be related to the requested export feature !
Anyway, in the current version (6.2.1) afaik, none of the features exist.
You can choose in the crop tab how the size of the file is displayed, but when you export you can only set the size in %.
When I edit (including crops) my files prior to export they may have different sizes (because of crop or alignment or distortion correction), I would like to set that, for example, they all have the same width, say 5000 pixels (with homothetic height).
If I apply a % for export they will never all be the same size…0 -

Yes, Markus, that is correct, but not for Nicholas (yet). 😉
So for my dear Nicholas: in the Process Recipe tool, go to Scale, change the default Fixed into something like Height or Long Edge and set the amount in px, mm or inches in the boxes below.
Next, set your crop ratio to the desired values and of you go: let do Capture One do the scaling automatically for each image independent from your crop to the desired output dimensions.

Aaaaaarglllll ! I'm done! you're correct 🤭
Ok for this one… that is great discover ! Great day ! 😄 😄 😄
We still have these:
- ability to select images in Browser like in Excel sheets, by row or column (when having hundreds of multi exposure shots, this would fasten the settings per exposure)
- Possibility to store successive texts in the watermarking tab
- better noise reduction
+ Sasha's
- Graduate filters / burn/dodge edges functionality (using multiple brush layers to achieve similar results is a pain for me.)0 -
As, there's now one request less 😉 I'll add two others…:
- to have a softening tool (on layer)
- to be able to create a layer by selecting a luminosity range (i.e. highlights/midtones/shadows etc.)
So my list would become:
- Ability to select images in Browser like in Excel sheets, by row or column (when having hundreds of multi exposure shots, this would fasten the settings per exposure)
- Possibility to store successive texts in the watermarking tab
- Better noise reduction
- To have a softening tool (on layer)
- To be able to create a layer by selecting a luminosity range (i.e. highlights/midtones/shadows etc.)
+ Sasha's
- Graduate filters / burn/dodge edges functionality (using multiple brush layers to achieve similar results is a pain for me.)
Anyone else ?0 -
My suggested feature is to be able to create and apply a "distortion map". To correct for lens distortion, you could identify which parts of the image should be straight, then analyse the differences from this, save that "distortion map" to a file, and later, apply it to images as a correction.
I use an RZ 37mm on my Aptus 75, which can't be completely corrected using the distortion slider, and something like this would help a lot. I foresee a nice little "Phase One" branded plate with cross hatches on it to use as a reference, like the lens cast correction kit.

I would love to see a deconvolution sharpening option. It's something that I would use routinely for capture sharpening.

Perhaps I am missing something, but there doesn't appear to be an option to exclude files on a card from import which you already have in your library. You have to do this manually, which is a pain. Both Aperture and LR can exclude them automatically if desired. It would be nice to do the same in a session in C1.

+1 Nicolas, re. having a soften/blur adjustment later (I am not very experienced with C1Pro6x, though, and this might already be available).
Using negative clarity is not strong enough to enhance women's skin, if using a hi-rez camera, at least not enough for me.
This (soften/blur on adjustment layer) is the only important extra feature I'd like to see. I had to process a large number of images and output to Aperture for only this feature. cheers, KL0 -
I think it would be nice to be able to create a layer mask from a clipping mask ("exposure warning") with ability of edge softness adjustments. I think it will be very useful, especially in the landscape processing.

FLIP HORIZONTAL?!

a feature I'll add to my wish list… voters add your name here, I'll send to support case soon…0 -
My wish:
Drawing straight lines by shift-clicking with the local adjustment brush tool.
+1 for the gradient tool.

My Wish:
I wish Phase One would fix ALL bugs in any single version BEFORE adding new features to a new version
Which they have the cheek to charge for!
I don't think there has been a really stable release of C1 since 3.XX

Stability should be the most important feature!0 -

Nicolas, Kit,
I completely support the idea of a blur adjustment layer.
If this was implemented, I wouldn't need to use anything more than C1 for my current PP needs.
I actually filed a support case proposing this back in June, making exactly your point re negative clarity.0 -

General tip and potential workaround: stack multiple layers with the same (or similar) adjustment and brushed area.
You can use negative clarity (or another adjustment available) in a layer, copy the brushed area to a second layer and set another negative clarity and so on until you have the desired result.0 -
- WB eyedropper with "live" preview (move dropper around picture and see a live preview somewhere of the WB you would get if you clicked there)
- ImageQuality Proffesor blog posts that aren't so obvious and uninspired. More willingness to discuss and educate about the fringes of digital color, spaces, profiles etc.
otherwise I love C1!!0 -
1- No more bugs like the "don't proces anything"
2- Maybe its allready there, but I would like a central place to exchange and find different presets. Having film type presets like velvia or triX. not because I want the name, but because I know the effect the film gives me.
3- tutorial on how to build a own lens correction preset for my lenses. Only have leica lenses so none of the standard ones are usefull to me. I thinking that with all the lenstests on the internet some information can be found pretty quickly (like distortion or light faloff) so it should be just inserting the information.0 -
1. Auto Masking as an option when using the local adjustment brush;
2. Capacity to convert Raw files into smart objects in PS, so that I can come back into CO to make adjustments to my file (much as in ACR).
3. I like the current approach to sharpening in ACR, particularly if it is possible to have a comparable smart object conversion capability (see above).
4. Allow for a program of systematic training videos in something like Lynda.com (no affiliation). Accessing the multitude of excellent features in CO should be facilitated.

I'm too busy this summer and fall to summarize this thread and create a support case, but I'll certainly do it mid-October when boats will be back to marinas and fall boat shows started…
In the meantime I invite folks here to post more"simple" features they'd like to see in C1…
Please avoid comments about stability and slowness, everyone is willing that and I'm pretty sure that the Phase guys are after it…0 -
Hello Nicolas,
I'm pleased to hear that you are busy, professionally, a good thing in these difficult times for many. May it continue!!!0 -
