Fuji X-Pro2 not recognized by iMac/C1

When my X-Pro2 is connected to my iMac it does not show in Finder as a device and thus I can not select the camera for import in C1. Inserting the SD card, all works properly. iMac mid 2011 with High Siera. C1 v12.01. In the camera, PC connection mode is set to USB card reader. Is there a way to use the USB connection to read the SD cards for the X-Pro2 (or X-T3 for that matter)?
