Same machine and configuration here (except 2.3 GHz), no problem AT ALL.
Very weird.
Is there anything in the logs that would point to a potential suspect?0 -
I had the same thing a couple of months ago, and just the other day a guy on Twitter asked for help with the same problem. I mangaged to help myself and the twitter guy with the instructions to reset the openCL support preferences.

You may have a different problem, but it's probably worth a try.
HTH,

Unfortunatly, this does not work. Crash when OpenCL is forced off. Thanks for the suggestion Peter. 0 -
Try to create a new user (System Preferences > Users & Groups), log in this new account and launch CO from there.
That's something I do when I get weird bugs with some application; helps to rule out any system-wide problem: if it works fine in the new account, then it means there's something conflicting in the old one.0 -
Thanks John. It worked in a new account. Now I just have to find the culprit... 0
