Canon 70-200 2.8L IS II
Currently running latest version of C17. Could not be happier with the latest from Phase One. I just noticed though, that when I import RAW files into a session shot on the 5D mk III with the 70-200 2.8L IS lens, C1 sets the lens in the lens correction tool to Generic. All the correct metadata for F stop, ISO, focal range is present in the working window, just not set automatically in the lens correction area. I can sellect it manually and apply to all, but this is not necessary with other lenses like 24-105L IS.
Maybe I am missing something. Could be operator error 😊 . Anyone else seen this perhaps with this lens?
Cheers Mark.

The 70-200 II needs correction?
😉
Hmm.
I'm still running 7.1.1 as it suits may kit and needs so far. The 70-200 f2.8 MkI is listed but not the MkII. Maybe the lens is not yet specifically reported or it is felt there is nothing much that would change to make it worth heading the list of lenses to be analysed. I don't recall seeing any comments about it being added to the list since 7.1.1.
Just guessing, though frankly I have never felt a need tweak anything for my copy but that may have more to do with what I shoot not being prone to showing up any weaknesses that worry me.

Maybe your right. I just saw the 70-200 and selected it. Didn't pay attention to the detail. Maybe C1 is smart enough to know that would be the wrong correction. Did seem to make a slight change for the better though. Hard to say. Maybe I should leave it set to Generic and make manual lens correction adjustments if required. Thanks for pointing that out Grant. 0 -

As I understand things there is quite a big difference (comparatively and excluding any other similar lenses) between the MkI and the MkII. Advice before I bought mine suggested that, for the genre, it would be difficult to improve in any noticable way. I have no way to assess whether that is true but I suspect that any corrections to be applied would be likely to be marginal for most practical purposes.
I also have what I consider to be a 'good' version of the 24-105 that, for me, performs perfectly well although I can see some lens correction benefits from time to time. The differences, small as they are, are far more obvious that anything I have seen for the 70-200 even with a 2x extender in play.
Just my observations of course and not a definitive response.
