    Hi Kit,
If Sony (or any 3rd party software) delivers connectivity to your Sony Alpha camera and store image on your computer's hard drive, then there is a workaround. Because the next and final step is having Capture One monitor that incoming image folder with its Hot Folder feature. This feature takes care of the last image popping up in your viewer automatically.

Thank you, Paul. Can you expand on this, or point me to a URL or a tutorial? Any workaround is fine and (maybe) Sony will supply you people with the information you need to implement this access directly. Thanks, KL

Kit, I suggest you do a search on this or the CO 4/5 sub forum, both the Mac or Windows versions. The term 'hot folder' is a great start, but 'Sony' might do as well. This has been covered here very often, so best to start from there.

It might sound more complicated than it is. The Sony application throws the images on your disk, Capture One opens it. The programs are not aware of each other.

Start with the Sony end first. See if you can make it work. The Capture One part next, that is the easy bit.

Thanks, Paul; that was very helpful. Did the search, and read all the posts.

My A850 did not come with a disk, and my searching suggests that Sony Remote Control software is Windows only. I have posted on a Sony forum to see what the experts over there suggest. Thanks again.

Some ideas to tether Sony Alpha 850/900 to Mac:
    - plug-in for Lightroom3/Mac from DNA Software (http://www.dslrsoftware.com/tethered_shot.php)
    - run Windows on Mac in a virtual machine (USB is passed-through) or use Boot Camp and run the Sony Remote Control software on Windows
It seems Sony has a Mac application suite but it seems they currently do not support their top model cameras? Weird.

    Solution found:

The Sony Remote Control software, ostensibly only for the A700, does in fact work perfectly on the A850. This software is available from Sony's UK site. Look for A850/A900 RC Image Suite; the site says that if you want the RC software, you have to go to another link, which says "A700" only. This is not accurate.

And enabling the "Hot Folder" in C1Pro6 allows you to see the previews as soon as shot. Not as good as being tethered, but at least you can see what you've just shot on your biggest screen

Not "live view" but definitely serviceable.
