Sounds like a typical RTFM issue to me. In the crop tool you can add aspect ratios, manual page 88. (CO 4.8.2 Pro)

will NOT let you type in custom sizes. you have to use whole numbers !!!!

What would be so hard about letting the user type in a size (one not limited to pre determined input), holding down the shift key, and allowing it to scale larger in the same proportion ? This would not change output size or quality. It would simply let me type in a size of lets say 5.30 inches X 7.70 inches and scale it up to the size the camera wants to output at 300DPI and still be in proportion ? simple, easy, useful ! I hate telling my clients to their faces that the system i am using "just wont do that" when its supposed to be state of the art. It sounds like an excuse and makes me look un-professional.

If you like an aspect ratio of 5.25 x 6.75, you can type in 525 x 675.

Sorry for the rude statement, I apparently have my weak moments triggered by ALL CAPS and !!! and an extremely frustrated user for what looked to me as not so difficult to solve with the manual (which has many gaps, but not this time). Love to help you though.

Wow ! That actually worked ! How was I supposed to know not to use the decimal point ?? Sounds like a gap in the manual to me. They are making assumptions in the text there that are not so easy to figure out. Much like your assumption that i had not consulted my manual before posting ! We had three fully functioning adults trying to figure this out......

    THANKS !!!!!! 😄

I did not know that either but found it out when I was putting your question into practice. CO 4 corrected it for me. A value of "5.5" was rounded to 6, a value of "5,5" translated to 55 after hitting the tab key to go to the next value field. Then I realized that default ratios like 2x3 and 4x5 are whole number representations of 1x1.5 and 1x1.25. Makes sense because they are just ratios, not actual sizes.

Good to hear you're on track again.

Thanks again Paul ! I have found the transition to 4.x to be relatively smooth.....still a few things that confuse me because the program is so complex. I will never need half of what the app can do.
