Back up external drive files
I have successfully moved my image folders to an external SSD.
End result- my C1 catalog is on my internal hard drive (iMac) in the Pictures folder; my images are on the SSD in the myoriginals folder. Moving around the images and processing seems a little quicker with the files on the SSD.
My catalog gets backed up with Time Machine AND with an off-site back up. My myoriginals folder is backed up off-site.
Question- I would like to have a local back up of the myoriginals folder to an external hard drive. I have 2 other external hard drives in place (not including the SSD). I am not aware of a method to configure Time Machine to back up anything other than the internal hard drive. Suggestions for automatic local back ups of myoriginals from the SSD?

You can use time machine easily enough. Open the time machine preferences and hit the “Options...†button. It will open a box with items excluded from the back ups, and you external drives will be listed. Just remove the drives you want backed up from the list and you’re good to go. 0 -
Yes, my TM backup includes both my local HDD and the external one on which my raw files (and iTunes library) are stored.

Thanks!
I’m stupid (I appreciate not being called down)
Right or wrong, my past recollection of TM was that it did not pick up external drives. Worse yet, I did not explore my own TM drive. My SSD was already there!
BTW, the value of TM for local back up cannot be over stated. It has saved me many times and is effortless.
Again, thanks for the info and kindness.0
