A visual image would go a long way to see what is happening, can you post a screenshot?

Capture One Pro or one of the manufacturer specific options?

Does it matter which camera the RAW files are from?

    Hi

I am new to Capture One and I want to make some adjustments to some of my raw images which have been imported and are in the capture folder.

However, although I have selected the main image in the viewer whenever I click on any of the options in the toolbar e.g. exposure, dynamic range etc. they do not seem to be enabled. The icon on the bar is not highlighted and so I am unable to adjust the settings to 'grab' the icon to be able to adjust the settings.

Just to they are working on some of the raw files...

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to select the image in some other way to enable the tools to become active?

I am working on a pc, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry for throwing out such a basic question! I am sure there is probably a very obvious solution that I am missing! ☹️

Exactly what files are you seeing this on?

If you have a tiny jpg then you will get this type of behaviour as there is a minimum size requirement.

You did not state the type of image file.

C1 is essentially a raw file processor. If you point it to a JPEG file, it will show you the image but perhaps not allow you to operate on it. From C1's point of view, a JPEG is created by processing a raw file. If you want the JPEG to look different, do your adjustments based on the raw file and process it again to create a new JPEG.

That said, C1 will let you operate on JPEGs if you enable JPEG edit in the Preferences->Image dialog. As you will understand from that dialog, you may want to enable edit for TIFF and PNG as well. Also, IanS is right about C1 being picky about a minimum size (pixel count), at least for JPEGs.
