Convert Image Files
Can someone shed some light on how expression media creates a tif from a DNG file?
I've read that when you create a jpeg the preview is extracted from the DNG. When Tiffs are created is the raw data accessed directly?
thanks,

Hello NN891382 (name?),
In EM you can convert images with Menu / Action / Convert Image file. Than you can make a choise of what file you want (JPG, TIF, Etc). In my opinion these are all 'real' conversions, created from the RAW data.
As an alternative (only for JPG) you can use the option Menu / Action / Extract Metadata. Than you can extract the image thumbnail that's imbedded in the DNG as an JPG. This is a much more faster option than creating them from the RAW data.
I hope this is answering your question?
