Catalog question
I have just changed from using sessions (without importing) to using catalogs with importing and, while most of all of the catalog setup stuff makes perfect sense to me I am puzzled by one thing.
I have my catalogs set up to write the processed output to a C1 subfolder of the original image folder so I have the Root Folder set to Image Folder and the subfolder set to C1. However, as I understand all of this, for this to work I have to have the Store Files setting under the Basic Tab in the Process section set to some value for that to work and I have not found any way to set a value that will remain from catalog to catalog. Thus I find I have to manually set the Store Files setting for every catalog I create. This was not a problem with sessions.
I have created a catalog template from a working catalog with those settings and saved it but, when I specify a new catalog and that template, it still leaves the Store Files setting set to Choose Folder and I cannot process until this value is changed.
Is there any way to somehow set that value to something specific and have all new catalogs use that value? It is not exactly a lot of work, but it would be nice to have the whole thing set when I create a new catalog.
Thanks for any help.

I'm curious as to how this is gonna shake out for you.
I just use one master catalog, which I believe is the way the software was intended to be used.
From that master catalog, create collections to sort out your different shoots.
This may not be the ideal solution for your needs, but it works OK for me.0 -

I thought I was the only one who stumbled across this issue...
The issue is that:
a) any catalog needs a value in the Output Location tool, Store Files field, even if it is not used due to Root Folder setting in the process recipe
b) a value for the Store Files field mention above can not be preset in a template
End of story.0 -

Well, that is clear enough so I guess I can stop trying to find some way around this issue and just plug in the value when I create the catalog. Or create a session when I first copy my images over to my MacBook Pro.
Thank you again. Perhaps I will file a bug/feature request concerning this.0
