Previews over network

I have tried setting a workstations in our studio to use the same preview folder over the network in hopes that after previews have been generated on one machine that when that session is loaded up on another they would be able to read those previews already generated and quickly reload those previews on wahtever machine. This would greatly increase productivity and increase our workflow, if only it worked. I guess that each computer would create its own file in the preview cache folder for that session and not be able to know which cache folder to look in for that session created by another machine. Is there a way to allow for this to happen though. If someone was able to download the CF card and then generate previews and do color correction, then the photographer could quickly sit down and load up the session on their machine and see the files already color corrected and see them extremly faster. Then someone else on another machine could quickly load up the files for eitehr quick proofing or color correction. After the first person did color correcting then everyone would se the same thing. Maybe it's just pipe dreams, but a guy can wish.
