As far as monitor profiles go the best one you'll get is one from a display calibrator. We use the Gretag EyeOne Display2, which was only a couple hundred dollars and gets the job done. Also Windows and Mac tend to use different gammas. The gamma on Mac is 1.8 while Windows is usually 2.2 so this can make a difference also. We use the Adobe 1998 profile for exports and as our working space in Photoshop. We have an older Powerbook and to be honest I don't think laptop displays look quite as good as Cinema displays or even a good CRT that is calibrated. Display calibration is also helpful to keep more consistent color from computer to computer. We often shoot to our iMac but I edit on G5 Tower w/ 23" display and will even go to a clients office to calibrate their display to help ensure they are seeing what we are seeing. Also just because the image looks better on the other display doesn't mean it will print that way.

    Good Luck,
