I resolved my problem. If I hide the viewer I can see all of the images in my browser on the screen. It was easy to assign this action a keyboard shortcut to the action of hiding the viewer, and I can now toggle between the two views with a quick key stroke.

If trick you might like: when you have hidden your viewer and have only the browser with thumbnails, double-clicking a thumbnail brings back the viewer.

Lazza: go to Capture One>Edit Keyboard Shortcuts to assign a keyboard shortcut to hide the Viewer as Bob W did.
