regenerating previews

I've managed to get my previews back and my system is back where it was before I attempted the transfer of the catalog. I cannot locate the catalog in the Finder. For some reason there are about 30 catalog entries all with the same name but different dates. Each time I opened a catalog to check it was the right one it would appear in my Library catalog - there are now 9 in the Library and I just need one.

Paul kindly gave directions on how to get the old catalog into the new computer. However, as mentioned I can't seem to find the right file. If I do I'm guessing I copy it onto a thumb drive and open it in the new computer. Can I then drag it onto the Capture One icon in the dock? Cheers, jp

    Hi Jay Pegg

I am afraid your description is a bit confusing to me. The catalog - as seen from the Finder - is a single file (in fact it is a folder with sub folders and a database file). That single file which has the catalog icon, is what you need to move, backup and open.

Once you open a catalog in CO7, you can not see other catalogs in the CO7 library tool. Maybe a screen shot can clarify your situation.

You can paste a screen shot in a post here through a link: post the screen shot elsewhere and post the link to it here, like this.

Thanks for your reply Paul. I have moved on a bit with help from a friend. Connecting my external hard drive to the new computer solved all issues - I now have the same setup as I had on the old computer. However, in our search to solve the original issue we discovered, as mentioned, multiple copies of the catalog file in the Finder - 76 copies to be exact. Not only this but also the majority of copies were on three different external hard drives - one for referenced photos, the other a backup to this drive, and a third a backup for the computer's internal HD. Obviously I'm doing something wrong in one of the processes, perhaps importing/exporting or whatever. I certainly need to get this sorted quickly. Cheers, jp
