Drag'n drop
Hi,
I'm testing CaptureOne and I am disappointed, that the actual version 5.0.1 doesn't wok with drag'n drop from the finder. As well it doesn't work, when I send a file from Photo Mechanic to CaptureOne for editing.
Thanks for Informations
Wolfgang

If this is the behavior you expected, I understand your initial disappointed. Fortunately, you will quickly overcome this when you discover Capture One works more in a folder than a file related fashion. Note that Capture One is not a file or image editor like say Photoshop. Capture One works per folder of group of folders named a session (in particular for Pro).
I hope you'll soon enjoy Capture One and am are eager to follow your endeavors here. (so far for the weekly pep-talk 😉 )0 -
Wolfgang,
Depending on the adjustments and file type you are sending from PhotoMechanic Capture One may not be able to read the file. Supported files are listed in the release notes and if a RAW is edited in another software prior to Capture One then it is a file other than the original and not supported.
In terms of Drag n Drop, Capture One has no physical scratch space of it's own so you can't drop "into" the program. Just navigate Capture One's library tool to the location of your files, it will read the files and be ready to use. So, this should save you a step as there is no need to Drag n Drop.0 -
hmmmmmm… drag and drop works fine with me!
When I do a search from the finder for a particular (raw) file, and that thanksfully I find it, If I drag it and drop it on C1 onto the dock, it opens C1 (if it was shut before) and then C1 goes directly to the folder where the file is located and display my searched file. If C1 was opened before the drag'n drop, then C1 skip to the folder containing my file and displays it.
This is a great function that I use many times a day!0 -
Nicolas,
That's correct, the Drag and Drop works to place items into the Capture Folder. But there is not Physical Space within the program.0 -

Hi Drew
I don't nderstand what you mean by "not Physical Space within the program."
My experience is that:
I don't use sessions.
I store my folders with raw files and C1 subfiles on an external firewire HD (2 TB).
I have hundreds of folders.
When I do a search from the finder for say "_45R5678.CR2" i drag that file to the C1 icon within the dock and C1 after a short while displays the file in the view window (I have 2 monitors), among the other files of the folder (in the main window…).
This means that the file is not moved from a place to anywhere else, it is just simply displayed from where it lies. There is no capture folder involved there.0
