Tethering Problems Canon 5D II
C1 Pro 8.01 on OS 10.9.5, tethering does not work with my Canon 5D II: after a couple of captures, images stop coming in to C1 Pro and the camera gets stuck 'recording' the image without delivering to C1 Pro or saving to the CF card. There was an earlier thread that highlighted the same issue but for the Nikon D810 and I believe that one of the contributors had some success with a clean install; I have done this as per the Phase One instructions for Mavericks without any success.
Reverting back to C1 Pro 8.0 brings back reliable tethering.
I have not tested version 8.01 with my P45+ so do not know if this issue also affects the Phase backs.
Just thought I'd let others know of my problems with 8.01 in case someone else is getting frustrated with the same tethering issues. I may submit a support case, but am tired of how frequently this needs to be done with each version of C1 Pro. I also find it annoying that in order to minimise the risk of any problems, it is apparent that each update needs to be done with a clean install - I do not use any other modern bit of software where this is a requirement to ensure smooth operation.
Hoping that we are not headed back down the route where each update sorts out a few problems but causes other major issues that weren't present before...

I've used 8.01 on OSX 10.9.5 tethered to my DF / IQ140 with no problems. Another user I know who shoots canon (5D Mk III) is having the same issues as you though. 0 -

Have you tried shooting tethered without a cf card in the camera to see if that is more stable?0 -
Are you shooting Raw+Jpeg? 0 -
I've had the same thing happen on my 5D2 setup, seemingly at random (so I don't have enough of a repro case to be able to drop a support case to Phase).
Given the amount of weirdness I've had with 5D2 tethering on past C1 7 releases, I've taken to disabling C1's Canon tethering and using EOS Capture alongside C1--and having it dump the images into the session capture folder. EOS Capture's capabilities for Live View on 5D2s are far better than what C1 can do thanks to Canon's SDK limitations. Works great.0 -
Andrew, thanks for suggestion but tried that already with no improvement.
Jim, shooting raw only.
I can only assume that changes to the code from 8.0 to 8.01 are the root cause for, since going back to 8.0, tethering with the 5D II has been fine. I did try 8.01 again with a clean install, but the issue occurred once more.
Hoping that the next update resolves this...0 -
I have discovered that (for me in any case) the tethering issues with the 5D II are caused by setting the ICC Profile under 'NEXT CAPTURE ADJUSTMENTS' to anything other than 'Default'; leaving the setting at 'Default' gives solid tethering.
I will submit a support case with my findings so that a fix can be implemented.
I hope this is helpful to others who may be experiencing similar problems.
