Capture One 9.3 File Naming
Greetings
I'm attempting to get Capture One 9.3 MacOs Sierra to name the captured files according to the name and numbers recorded by the camera (A7rII) but none of the settings are working.
Any ideas?

When you import files from your memory card, you get the opportunity to choose how they are going to be named. In the import dialog box, in the Naming section, there is a Format drop down menu. If you click the ... symbol you get a further dialog box where you can drag "tokens" like Image Date, or Counter into the Format field. So for instance my usual method is image date in the form YY-MM-DD and then a 4 digit counter. You can also type things in so I could have <Image Date> Bristol holiday <Counter> if I chose. If you just want the image name that the camera has assigned to the file just choose the Image Name token.

Similar for tethering. It's in the 'Capture' tab, 'Next Capture Naming' tool.
Using the 'Original Filename' token doesn't work?

When I choose "Original Filename" it names the file "EmptyName".
There is no option for "Image Name".0 -
Are you importing from a card or working tethered?
Also ....
Sony version?
I assume Pro for Sony but maybe Express?

Greetings
I'm using the full version of Capture One.
Not specifically Sony.0 -
Tethered 0 -
My guess is that if you're working tethered there is NO Original FileName, because the tethering process comes "before" capture naming by the camera.
So : EmptyName
Workaround could be using CameraCounter ?0 -
Doesn't give the original filename either. 0 -
Yes, but isn't the point that working tethered there is no original file name, because the file is never stored in the camera, and the first name the file receives is whatever it gets from C1 when it is ingested.

There is no filename, when working tethered, as the file sent has no sensible name when coming from the camera.
Also, only Team Phase One digital back send the Camera Counter value through to CO, so only when tethered to a such back, are you able to use the Camera Counter.
My own, personal recommendation is to use Jobname/Document name + X digit counter.0 -
Just FYI - Original file name refers to the Meta data field "original file name" (in IPTC Getty images) - so it extracts from this field for the name string. If Empty, then you get Empty name. 0
