Pan 'Hand' tool won't change at all!
I've been looking for a while and not found any comments about it, but it's a problem that I've been seeing since long time ago (v4) but not repeating on every version/update. Now working with v8.3.3 seems to be back more often, both in the desktop computer (MacMini) and the laptop (MacPro i5). OSX 9 and 10.
The problem: hand tool won't change to any other tool so you have to restart CO to be able to use other tools. Is that a video memory related problem or what? very sick of that issue, specially when the client is around and you are trying to make changes to the image... etc.
I hope is clear.

Did you tried to use shortcuts. I've got that issues ones in 8.2 I do believe but clicking V button switching to selection tool, or Shift + V, I don`t know what caused that. But I definitely resolved that without restarting C1, via hotkeys. 0 -
Yes, many times.
I remember in v6 by selecting (by click or shortcut)
the Spot tool most of the times worked, but not
any longer. I tried so many shortcuts/keys and typing
numbers, cursor/click on another programs, rating...
not the right one yet!
It's just a bug that follows CaptureOne or just me!

You are not alone! I just went to the Forum to post about this same problem. I am on a 2013 Mac Pro running Mac OS X 10.11 and C1 Pro 8.3.4. However, I had this problem on C1 7 and 8 with both 10.10 and 10.11. 0 -
Just out of curiosity, because I haven't had this problem (yet).
Did you define personal keyboard hotkeys / shortcuts or mouse gestures/actions? Do you use special input devices / keyboards?
Do you have any desktop tools installed/running that could interfere with your actions and/or shortcuts? Like screenshot tools, etc? Or do you run another software in the background while using CO? PS, Affinity, etc? If yes, what if you run CO only?
Maybe there is a piece of hardware or software you have in common? That could help pinpointing the root cause.

No personal hotkeys or shortcuts. I do use a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I often do have other software open in the background. LR, PS, VMWare Horizon.
Very frustrating.0 -
Apart from the usual apps like Ps, firefox/safari,
mail, dropbox, calibration, xtra finder (since 10.9)...
I do not think those apps should interfere.
It will be silly that incompatibility, I think!
I will take notes of the apps open when that happen again.

And let us know as well, because I am just curios to track down that issue as well, because it actually not appeared to me on latest 8x, software 0 -
Another idea:
Nan, are you using keyboard shortcuts to change tools when changing doesn't work?
If yes, see my post in here:

If I change a tool value by typing and proceed to the next field using <tab> or <shift> + <tab>, or if I activate an input field (cursor blinking), keyboard shortcuts do no longer work. I think this is because CO is in some 'keyboard input' mode. But when I hit <enter>, shortcuts work fine
I can just hit <enter> after using (<shift> +) <tab>, choose a tool icon, or click into the active image in the image browser bar to make it work again.
Is the behavior you observe somewhat similar? Then, does hitting <enter> bring the keyboard shortcuts back?

Hi Hans
Yes, I do that way, I always work with the keyboard.
Today happened again in the middle of a live session,
it's not fare, you have to restart all settings, specially
if you work with Canon, and clients Capture Pilot and
the photographer loosing files that in the Catalogs go
to hell (see pack content), etx.. But today I took another
way and instead of reseting the program I just closed the
catalog window and reopen, so it's quicker to get back to
normal but still all re-settings to do.
I will try your tip if that happen again.
I'm working with 8.3.4 tethered to a Canon 5D MIII these week.
OSX 10.9.5 (sick of Apple upgrades too)

Bloody hand bug is here to stay, no solution but closing the session/catalog and reopen!! 0 -
