Firstly, I assume that the "3 files that I want to get into C1" are in fact three folders with image files in them?

Assuming you just want to get your images in C1, try the following:
    1. Open the import dialogue, which is the arrow pointing down icon at the top left of your C1 screen
    2. Click on the "import from" source drop down menu and navigate to the first of your folders. (It might be worth ticking Include subfolders and Exclude duplicates.)
    3. Make sure "Import to" has "current location" selected. This will bring the images into C1 without duplicating them.
    4. Add any copyright details you wish to the import dialogue.
    5. When you and C1 are ready, click "Import all" in the bottom right of your screen.
    6. Do the same for your other two folders.

This should bring the original files into C1 and create previews, etc. I don't believe you will get any of your LR edits, unless you stored these in sidecar files when you were using LR.

Thank you for your suggestion. As soon as I build-up my courage, I am going to try it.

Wrt your question regarding the image files, yes they are definitely there. I opened Pictures and I can see all of .CR2 and .xmp listings and I can successfully open them in CS6. The three folders are only missing from C1.
