    All I can offer is:

    It is possible you have a RAM memory issue, test this by downloading Memtest86.exe
    from http://www.memtest86.com/

    It may be the way files are handled by your DVD Burning program as well.

    The FW or USB cable could be problem if DVD drive is external.

    Let us know if the mystery is solved...

    memtest86 is a bit out of date. I recommend its replacement, memtest86+, from http://www.memtest.org/. It's based on the original but has many fixes and improvements.
