I am trying out Capture one 9 pro
This program seems to fail to recognise any photograph file I place in front of it.
I have tried Raw Tiff and JPEG.
On import etc attempting to grasp files from another internal HD all I get is an empty folder
when attempting to import when I know full well the folder has Nikkon D750 Raw Tiff and JPEG image files.
Is anybody albe to please shed some light on this please?

When Capture One displays the "Please select which folder to import from" dialog, that dialog is configured to only show folders and sub-folders, not image files.

If you click on its "Select Folder" button, it will close and the images in the folder will be display in the "Import Images" dialog.

Many thanks Richard your straight foreward advice lead me straight into success.
I am in a bind however as none of the "Effect" I.E. "Colour Editor or Exposure" edtors seem to be activated?
I.e. no clicking on or dragging will move the sliders. I do wonder whether I need to "Save" the image after importing?

    Many thanjs again.

The controls seem "Dead in the water" so to speak.

I.e. no clicking on or dragging will move the sliders.
No data (numerical values) are able to be inserted.

    No presets are available either.

I note on the beginners video these things just are there after import?

I am reading what I can

    Any ideas would be appreciated

    Many thanks

    Steve,

You can run C1 Trial in 4 modes.

Are you running in PRO mode?

If you are running in either SONY mode only Sony files are supported.

In DB mode only Phase group Digital Backs are supported.

JPG and TIFF file editing may be enabled/disabled in the Preferences. Worth checking there.

See where this information leads you.

It may be worth browsing the Help file from the link at the top of the screen.

Also consider some of the videos on the Phase YouTube channel.

IIRC there are also some useful links on the startup splash screen.

Thank you Grant yes I am watching video
I will have a look at preferences again I did do this as I am pretty conversant with audio programs I did not pick up on Tiff and JPEG I might have been travelling too fast.
    Will report back tomorrow.
Yes I am in Pro mode.

    Great thanks

    Steve,

There are sometimes restrictions for specific cameras related to special versions of RAW files but there is nothing in the release notes

    https://www.phaseone.com/en/Download/Ma ... 6dc6de4b59

for the D750 to suggest limitations.

For jpg files anything with an Alpha channel is not supported and B&W may be an issue depending on how it was created.

TIFF offers several standards. Most should be OK but multi-layer TIFF files are not currently supported.

However if you are not seeing the RAWs that is a more fundamental problem.

Are you using a session or a catalogue?

If you select (click on) a RAW image in the browser window (I assume from an earlier post that you have now successfully imported some images) tools should become active. You will see a white line around the currently elected image (or images if you have selected multiple images).

You are probably hitting something quite simple but there are enough options around in C1 that it's not always easy to think of all the possibilities without being "hands-on".

Grant I was sure I installed Pro mode!
Turns out what I had was DB
How that happened I have no idea I was sure I clicked on Pro...
Onward---- I have uninstalled the program and will download another copy of Pro version.
    I have a Nikon D750
Will post back after I see if I have any joy with my download.
I did wonder at the small time it took on the download considering from memory the large size of the prospective download!
I also installed at request rather than saved then installed which is my usual practice.
Thank you Grant and all for replying.

    Update
I downloaded Pro at least 3 times
On each download the last two with Cookies enabled there were these files
shown as being unable to be downloaded "Showad JS numbers 25-82
    After a hopeful install
The mode the program nearly runs in is DB only....

Golly gosh I thought these days were over!
    Windows 10 64bit

    No worries

    Steve,

If you accidentally start the program in DB mode it is auto activated, DB being a free version (but limited as described previously to Phase products.)

Thus, being activated, there is no need for a trial .... so the logic goes.

So you need to de-activate DB mode and take things from there. You do not need to download again unless you have already deleted previous downloads. All versions are contained in the single download file.

You should be able to control activations by logging in to your "account" to de-activate the newly existing DB activation and then you should be back to the trial type selection screen when you next open the application. At least I think that should work for DB.

There was a thread on here a year or so back related to this situation. I'll see if I can find it.

OK, unless something strange has happened at some point all you should need to do for V9 is go into the program, click on the "Help" drop down menu at the top of the screen and then select "License Information".

From there you should see a screen that indicates you are running DB mode. You should be able to select the current activation and then de-activate it.

Assuming that is successful close C1 and restart it and you should, as I understand it, see the trial splash screen again. Select "Pro" mode and all should be well.

If that does not work for some reason two more things to look into.

Firstly run a search on the forum for "deactivate DB" and see what is returned. There should be a number of posts listed. Most will suggest the solution above but I seem to recall that there was an older one (It may have been back in V7 or early V8 days) that was a little different. I have a vague recollection that activation management was more convoluted back then. Either that or the user could not for some reason access their activations account.

If you do end with access problems and cannot find a solution just raise a Support Case (assuming you can log in) using

    Help > Capture One Support

and then in the browser window that opens you will want the Contact technical support option.

HOWEVER you may find it useful to first head a little further down the page the the FAQ box and the first subject there - Activation.

Under that are links to a number of Knowledge Base articles relating to activation matters and you may well find the information that you need in there without the need to trouble the Support Team.

    Steve,

Unless you have already uninstalled you should not need to re-install.

Just de-activate DB and away you go.
