Default sharpening and color saturation?
Hello,
Assuming there will be no post-processing after C1, what would you suggest as the defaults for sharpening and color saturation?
After researching this on the web I found this interesting article about sharpening:

Thanks.

wjl11,
Tough answer here. It is dependent upon your camera and the output pathway.
Sit in on a few Seminars, or read a few articles, and you may hear various values.
The best advice is to test, test, test. Obviously the advantage of using 1 software for the efficient workflow that Capture One provides is related to getting the Sharpening effects you're happy with... or ultimately that your Customer is happy with.
Soft look setting is used primarily for close-up portrait work because it hides skin blemishes to some extent.
Standard look is the other option available.
Amount - how much contrast between pixels
Threshold - the higher the # the LESS that is sharpened in the image
Starting at Amount: 150 with Threshold: 3 is a good starting point.
At the Focus tab it is best analyze the Focus View Display image and not the Preview image. The Preview will show sharpening adjustments, but is a lower resolution for making critical decisions, even at full screen. The Focus View actually processes that portion of the RAW for display and analyses.
For best analysis of Sharpening and Saturation is to print the image.
In analyzing sharpening effects only, do not adjust Color Noise suppression sliders since these can have an affect upon sharpening.
Hope this helps out.
Sincerely,
k c0
