"Path Name Error" Paths cannot contain "|" symbol
Recently I changed my image folder naming structure, I have put a "vertical pipe" symbol between the date and description. For instance, I may name a folder:
2014-09-26 | London England
When trying to access the images in C1 I get an error message - capture One pro "Path Name Error" Paths cannot contain "|" symbol. I am rather at a loss because C1 is the only app I have that has an issue with this symbol. Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, DxO, Iridient Developer, FastRawViewer, etc. accepts this symbol. Even Media Pro works fine. Why is it that C1 has the issue? I am doing something wrong?

Mac OSX is fairly robust at random characters however we have a cross platform application in terms of the catalog and sessions - the data base has to be read on both.
MS has a list of reserved characters of which "pipe" is one.0 -
