C08 Contrast engine in C09?
Hoping someone here can help me with this. Many thanks in advance.
I am considering upgrading (Purchase, not subscription) to 9 but am not sold on how the new Contrast engine works with color.
Can someone tell if it possible to use the CO8 contrast engine in CO9? Is there a preference setting perhaps?
Or is it possible to retain my CO8 install after upgrading to 9 incase I decide to go back?

Install it and use for 30-days, it will not affect your v.8 installation. 0 -
In the preferences you can set the default engine to the C1 8 one. It will be applied when importing new photos or creating a new variant (but you can't "downgrade" a C1 9 variant to a C1 8 one). Doing so will prevent you to use some of C1 9's new features with the variants using the C1 8 engine (such as luma curves). 0 -

Thanks very much! This is the info I was looking for.0 -
The handling of colours in CO9 when using contrast tool is very odd-looking indeed. I really prefer the old tool and if I were to use CO9, I'm now forced to go to curves in order increase contrast the conventional way.
Count this as one request to revert to the simple old method. Perhaps, as we have with the clarity tool, we could choose the "Method"? - Natural or Luminosity only.0 -

Thanks for the pointer Christian.
Perhaps I should have stated more clearly - if I am to use the CO9 engine for image processing. It's great we have this option to use the legacy engine, but my opinion on the new behaviour of the tool is valid, and I think my suggestion for an option is constructive, don't you?0
