4.8.3 and CRASHES
Ever since I upgraded to 4.8.3, I've been experiencing a tremendous number of crashes as well and like other users, it happens without warning and under a variety of circumstances (shooting tethered, downloading cards, scrolling, changing folders, zooming, etc.). I don't believe it's corrupt files, because after every job, I back up to a hard drive and begin fresh.
I've seen the posts saying go back to 4.8.2 because it's much more stable, and I would gladly, but I can't find it. This is really embarrassing to be standing out on location with a client watching my program go down time after time.
There are too many folks struggling with this for it to be random. Please address this issue as quickly as possible.

Hi Dennis
I guess you tried all these things as delete pref files, reinstall etc…
You may find previous versions in menu "Downloads/software archive" : http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Downloa ... veMac.aspx0 -
It is TERRIBLE and veeeeerrry embarassing. Here I am touting the world's best camera and the software just crashes. This is inexcusable and needs to be fixed asap!!! 0 -

Are you just echoing the OP or have a problem yourself? Do you want help or only want to make noise? For help please provide details.0 -
I had a shoot the other day. Things were going along fine maybe 70 or so shots in the capture folder. I was shooting rapidly but not at a burst clip. I am using the 5D Mark II. all of a sudden the camera stopped importing and the frame number kept flashing. The only way to clear the situation was to open the battery door on the battery grip. The shots that had not been imported before the freeze were nowhere to be found. Not on the card and not on the computer. This situation used to happen in earlier versions of the software with my 1Ds Mark II. It seems that it's deja vu all over again. And that's my facts.

I would bet that Snow Leopard in Lanny's case at least could very well have something to do with what he is experiencing. I had a bunch of crashes myself with 4.8.3 and know it was not my computer/hardware and something either with 4.8.3 or something on my OS side. It happened on my MacBook Pro and Mac Pro tower and both are brand new and maxed out spec wise. It was happening on both Leopard and Snow Leopard for me. It is getting a bit tough hanging in this technology game at a bleeding/cutting edge level when things are CONSTANTLY changing on all fronts. New 5D Mark II's, MarkIV, D5's, whatever!(not real...just obnoxious D3 jump example:), Capture 4 coming out prematurely in my opinion...an example of software/capturing software always changing and having to keep up and obviously not proving to not always be that easy, and then new OS's. So not the easiest thing to precisely pinpoint where everything is coming from at all times.
Anywho....YEAH Capture 5 and hopefully no problems other than it saying we need to upgrade to 5.1.6 and taking you to Phase's home page. 😄
