Did you use CO 5 with another camera's raw files in the past? Better break your 1000 images into 2 or 3 folders.

    Bob,
Are you importing from card when you do this?
If so, importing from card does more than just create Proxies, which is why it is slower. If speed is your overall priority when importing images from a CF, just drag from your mounted card to your Capture Folder and then launch Capture One. The software will read all of the files at once and you can begin editing while it works in the background.

The 1000 images is across a dozen or so folders of about 100 each. 100 images takes about 5 minutes to cache on a MacPro quad prosessing monster of a machine. 5.01 worked well enough, but that version doesnt do the new Canon 1d Mark IV camera. We are kinda stuck.

Also, it appears that we need to re cache (proxy) folders already cached. Not good luck so far.

    Bob,
Let's take a look at your hardware setup in a support case, you can address it to me. Although it will take time to create the necessary files, 5 minutes is a bit much and once done the first time they should not need to be done again in a complete sense.

I have the same problem with proxies, it take About 20 min for 700 pictures.
C1 create proxies after import pictures from a hard drive.
And when a rename them, it's also quiet slow (20 min for 700 pictures)
In fact C1 is not very quick for the moment!
It's a real problem to work with!! 🤬

I'm using the last version of C1 pro with a mac pro 2 x 2,8ghz quad core intel xeon with 14Go 800mhz ddr2 and osx 10.6.2
