Catalogues - file size and maximum images they can handle?

    This is not the case at all. Currently instant access is limited to 10,000 files but that only references a single folder. A catalog could have many times that amount in total. The real limitations are based on your hardware and not the software.

    The blog mentions;
    From my initial testings Capture One 7.0.2 seems a bit more responsive and stable running a catalog with 1600 images. We have confirmed that Canon tethering works, sRAW & mRAW works, the new Canon 6D now tethers, and that X-PRO 1 files can be viewed/adjusted.

    This does not state that number as a limitation, it simply mentions that is how many images they have in their specific catalog. What is not mentioned (that I could see) is the spec of the machine or the size of the files. Using a machine that only meets the minimum system requirements for Capture One 7 accessing 1600 IQ180 RAW files at one time could certainly cause performance conflicts as this potentially access' upwards of 128GB at once. 😉

    Hi I wrote that article. I have noticed going over 2000 images with mainly MKIII RAW's has given us some stability and performance issues, this may be from running 10.6.8 which from what I have read is not optimized for v7. We're all updating to 10.8 soon so then we can give a truly accurate response on catalog performance.

    My computer here at work:
    2 x 3GHz Quad Core
    13GB of RAM
    3 TB drives
    ATI 5770 with 1GB of VRAM
